Nothing showcases a new building like the installation of the asphalt pavement. One of our Syracuse division’s paving crews were able to provide that service for the new $10.8 million Village of Manlius fire station that is set to open soon.

Bette & Cring was awarded the contract for general construction by the Manlius Village Board. Ruston Paving was contracted by them to install both the binder and top course of asphalt. Once completed, the station will have living quarters, a gym, kitchen, community room and an area for firefighters to train. The new garage will also be able to fit all the department’s vehicles and equipment.

Mardela High School (paving)Crews from Ruston Paving’s Manassas division recently completed work on Mardela High School’s track in Mardela Springs, Maryland. The general contractor on the project was R.A.D. Sports, out of Rockland, MA.  Ruston Paving was recommended to R.A.D. Sports by Beynon Sports, another company that specializes in running track construction and whom we’ve completed several tracks for in the past.

The project consisted of fine grading and paving an 8 lane (30’ wide) track.  Over the past few years, our paving crews in Virginia have developed very good quality control practices and is highly regarded by track surfacing and turf field companies.  A big thanks to our employees willingness to stay out of town on projects located a few hours from our Manassas office.

Ruston Paving was contracted by Dawn Homes, the owners of Village Green Apartments, to mill off 4″ of the existing pavement and install a new surface course of asphalt at one of the complex’s parking lots. However, once the existing material was removed, it was apparent that the subbase was too soft, which was the cause of the pavement’s failure. Dawn Homes was already familiar with the benefits of full depth reclamation, having used the process on one of its other properties. So when FDR was proposed, they agreed to that viable option. Now that the subbase has been stabilized and the new asphalt layer installed, the parking lot will provide years of value to Dawn Homes and the residents at Village Green.

Ruston Paving is coming down the home stretch towards completion of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology project. With total costs of approximately $89 million, the renovation modernizes the school’s aging facilities, many of which had not been updated since the school was built in the mid-1960′s.

Over the life of the project, which began in the Spring of 2013, our Manassas division’s crews have installed more than 8,000 tons of stone and 11,000 tons of asphalt, which marks this as one of the largest jobs in Ruston Paving’s history. These construction photos feature two of our paving crews as they pave in front of the school and its new Monticello dome.

Destiny USA (paving)The holiday season hustle and bustle didn’t deter the crews in our Syracuse division as we paved some critical areas at Destiny USA, the sixth largest mall in America. Ruston Paving was called upon by Riverside Site and Landscape Co to complete the work and you can imagine that traffic control was of the utmost importance. We are very proud to say that the work was completed with nary an incident!

Hats off to all our employees who worked so tirelessly to keep themselves and the public safe during this project.

Malvern Manor (paving)Ruston Paving was contracted by Gumenick Properties to repave Malvern Manor, one of their beautiful properties just outside of The Fan District.  This is our first project with Gumenick, and we look forward to working with them again soon. The property manager was VERY impressed with all of our crews along with their attention to safety and efforts to keep pedestrian sidewalks cleaned throughout the entire day.  All the small things make a big difference.  Hats off to the crews and truck drivers – your hard work is noticed!

Plaza at Landmark (finished)Ruston Paving was contracted yet again by HHH Properties to perform repairs to the alleys at the Plaza at Landmark in Alexandria. We have been doing work at the shopping center for approximately five years, and this project included a full makeover of the rear of the center. Thanks to our crew members, we were able to safely and efficiently maximize production while still allowing deliveries to be made to the center.  This was no easy feat since the plaza is loaded with over 25 businesses!

We value our relationship with HHH Properties and appreciate their loyalty with Ruston Paving. We also value our crews who allow us to work so well with busy customers such as this. Beautiful work!

Spring Arbor (finished)Ruston Paving crews from our Richmond division recently completed a project for Hercules Contracting, a valued repeat customer. This project is an addition to the Spring Arbor retirement community containing a new memory loss facility to aid with the specific needs of its tenants.

The facility is set to open in fall 2016. So, our crews had a strict schedule to adhere to and were highly successful in completing the project on time. Great work all around!

Old Dominion (paving)Old Dominion Freight Line, a nationwide shipping company, was expanding its commercial truck and employee parking lots. Initially D.F. Chase, the general contractor on the job, was soliciting bids to install some thick, heavy duty lifts of stone and asphalt to carry the load of the trucking fleet. However, we were able to save Old Dominion money by proposing to stabilize the subbase with Portland cement increasing the overall structural capacity of the pavement section and enabling a cost savings on asphalt.

Understandably, the company was certainly pleased with Ruston Paving’s ability to think outside the box and deliver a superior finished product.

Clayton Arms AptsEarlier this year, our Rochester crews completed a project at French Creek Townhomes, a property managed by Eastwood Management. Based on the success of that job, Eastwood contracted with Ruston Paving again to mill and pave its Clayton Arms Apartments. We’re delighted to say that Eastwood Management has asked us to pave a third property for them later this season.

We’re proud of the relationship we’ve developed with Eastwood Management and look forward to continuing it for years to come.
