Our MechanicsThe mechanics at Ruston Paving are highly valued members of our team. As you can see in the photos here, mechanics in all of our divisions are still working tirelessly to maintain and improve our equipment. While most of our crew members have a lull in activity during winter months, our mechanics are quite the opposite. They are still hard at work prepping our equipment, trucks, and trailers for the upcoming season and ensuring our crews have safe and well maintained iron to get them through the upcoming season.

We can’t thank them enough for their diligent work!

Honda Aircraft Company, whose world headquarters is in Greensboro, needed to expand its adjacent HondaJet facility that develops, builds and sells planes. The expansion is expected to add 100 jobs by the end of 2015. BE&K Building Group, A Pernix Group Company, was the general contractor tasked with completing the building expansion and contracted Ruston Paving to add three parking lots to handle the additional employees.

Our Manassas division worked for the BE&K Building Group, then known as KBR Building Group, in 2014 on a project in Arlington, Virginia. KBR was so impressed with the quality of our work that they reached out to us for the HondaJet project and we were only too happy to continue to work together.

The Peggs CoRuston Paving was contacted by The Peggs Company to come up with a way to pave their old, pothole-ravaged, stone yard.  The Pegg’s Company warehouse assembles mass quantities of new shopping carts along with reconditioning older carts.  This yard is used for staging supplies and shipping/receiving 18-wheeler deliveries.  After regrading the site to achieve positive drainage, the crews seen here are stabilizing the yard and prepping the site for paving, which is set to take place after the holiday weekend.  The manager and employees have all stopped out to see the work and have been impressed with the crews, the fleet of Ruston Blue equipment, and stabilization process as a whole.  Great work all the way around!

The end of one construction season brings Ruston Paving the dawn of another. As 2015 will mark our 72nd year in business, we hope this will be our best year ever. It is this wish we also hope for everyone.

Happy New Year!

Dawn of a New Season

2013 Leadership RetreatRuston Paving’s foremen and management team recently completed a Leadership Retreat in Charlotte, NC. The focus of the retreat was safety, communication and teamwork. The group is shown here at the US National Whitewater Center where they completed high and low rope challenges on the center’s Adventure Course.

Rochester Construction Career DayRochester Construction Career Day LetterRuston Paving once again participated in the Rochester Construction Career Day.  2012 marks the 15th year the event has taken place.  The purpose of the career day is to provide area high school students with a unique and informative look at the construction industry in hopes of generating interest in the skilled trades.  With the skills gap continuing to grow, it is more important than ever to educate our young workforce that the trades are a viable career choice.  Utilizing a scale model of a parking lot, we were able to demonstrate the use of a laser level to ensure proper surface drainage.

Best Western - PavingBest Western LogoContracted by SharCon Management, Ruston Paving was asked to mill and pave the parking lot for its Best Western Battlefield Inn.  While this hotel recently went through some major renovations and upgrades to its interior, it was time the parking lot had a facelift.

For over 20 years, Sharcon has been managing and developing numerous hotels throughout the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area.  Ruston Paving frequently has out of town employees stay at The Battlefield Inn.  So, we were very excited to perform the work.  The owner was very impressed with our crews and has complimented Ruston Paving as a whole and our commitment to excellence.  Another job well done!

Paving Chapel Hill Public Parking LotThe Town of Chapel Hill was grappling with the best way to rehabilitate one of its parking lots.  After many discussions with our project management team as to the various reconstruction and repair options, the town decided to overlay the area.  Ruston Paving was proud to be the low bidder and was awarded the contract to do the work.  Because the project needed to be completed within two weeks of the award, the schedule of our crews was adjusted and the job was done ahead of the deadline.
